本日、今回のバリトリップの最終日、デイー２７ですじゃ！
そして、今日のスエルがこの一ヶ月の中で一番ビッグ。
前々から狙っていた、見てみたかった、撮りたかったサヌールリーフへ〜〜
ゴージャスなサンライズの中、４〜６フィートのラインアップが見えた〜
Today is our last day in Bali!!
And today’s swell was the biggest in this trip.
So went to Sanur’s reef~~
4~6 ft line up showing up along with the gorgeous sunrise.

朝一まだ潮は足りないようだったが、すでにサーファーは数人ラインアップし、
たまにくるドセットをクルーズしているのが確認できた。
バリには数えきれないくらい来ているが、サヌールリーフを撮影するのは初めてのこと。
実際どれくらいの大きさで、どれくらいのクォリティなのかがよくわからなかったが、
サヌールリーフの前／アリッツホテルに滞在している、
カイシュウ、ユキオ等を誘って、サヌールセッションへ〜〜〜
Tide wasn’t enough but there were some surfers inside and
saw some sets coming in.
I came to Bali bunch of times but first time shooting in Sanur’s reef.
Didn’t really know about the quality and how big’s the wave but called
Kaishu and Yuki for a Sanur session~~~
カヌーをチャーターし沖へ出てみると、ロングショルダーのラインアップが〜
そしてインサイドにくるにつれ掘れだす、夢の様なラインアップが目の前に広がった。
We rented a canoe and when we got out, there was a long shoulder line up~~
And a wonderful line up that gets hollow as it gets to the inside.

サヌールは何度もやったことがあるというユキオにして、
今日のサイズは初めてだったという。
クラマスとは違い、もっとダイナミックなフィールドで、
ビッグテイクオフを決め、サンセットを彷彿とさせるボトムターン、
そしてビッグフェイスでカービングターンを入れ、インサイドに繋げると、
ショローリーフ沿いにロングシリンダーが待っていた。
潮、風の関係からほんの一時間くらいだけ良かったサヌールセッションとなった。
Yukio surfed in Sanur many times but he never this place get this big before.
There was a long cylinder waiting for him after he made a big curve and a bottom turn on
the dynamic wave.
By the tide & wind, this wonderful session in Sanur just lasted for an hour.

サヌールが８〜１０フィートになると、バリナンバーワンのライトハンダーになるという。
岸からは遠く、ビロウシーレベルとなり、ボトムが見えにくく、
水中からは海が広く、何個もセクションがあり、カレントも生ずるので、
ランド＆ウォーターとも撮影に適したポイントとは言えないが、
波の切れ端にカヌーを浮かばせ、ロングレンズでシュートするとこうなる。
水の色もクラマスとは違い、スーパークリアで、
まだ知らなかったバリの魅力に触れる事のできたサヌールファーストセッションだった。
When Sanur gets up to 8~10 ft, this place becomes the best right hander in Bali.
This place is far from the land and current comes in by many wave’s section so
it ain’t a good place for shooting but if we use a canoe and shoot with a long lens,
it becomes like this.
Water color is so clear and
had a nice first session in Sanur.

激浅、激掘のインサイドボウル。
サヌールリーフはポイントからインサイドまで、パーフェクトなリーフが広がり、
サイズに応じて、波がニョキニョキと張ってくるんだぜ〜

There’s a perfect reef through the point to inside and
wave appears by it’s condition~~
サヌールはバリでも有名なツーリストビーチで、多くにワロング、船が待機している。
Sanur is also a famous tourist beach so there’re many warung and boats waiting.

バリトリップラストデイにようやくサヌールリーフの片鱗を垣間拝む事が出来た〜〜

朝一のサヌールセッションを終え、今度は午後の干きにビンギンを狙った。
ビンギンの丘を下って行く時に見えるインポッシブルのラインアップは、
まさにこの世のものとは思えない美しさがあった。
これぞバリ、これぞインドネシア、これぞサーファーズパラダイスと言われる所以だろう。
After the morning session, we went to Bingin.
When I was going down the hill, this Impossible’s line up just looked amazing.
I guess this is what makes people call Indonesia a Surfer’s Paradise.

ビンギンの長く、急な階段を降り、ワロング／チョッキィーに着くと、、、
ワオ〜〜〜ビンギンバグ〜〜ス！！、ゴーインオ〜〜〜フ！！！
潮が干きに入っているので早速パドルアウト〜〜〜

今朝のサヌールセッションでゴーインオフしたユキオもすでにラインアップにいた。
コンパクトピーク／大混雑に参りながらも、ビンギンセッションに付き合ってくれた。
ユキオも明日のフライトで帰国する、お疲れさまですた〜

The peal was so crowded but he surfed this session with us.
He’s also gonna go back to Japan on tomorrow’s flight~~

SKILLZ HIGH と言うサーフスーツブランドを立ち上げ、
日本とバリを行ったり来たりのサーフィンライフを送っているワキユウジ。
スランガンに住みながらもブキット半島のレフティをいつも気にしているソウルサーファーだ。
Yuji Waki founded a surf suit brand called SKILLZ HIGH and
having surfing life between Japan and Bali.
He live’s in Sulangan he always care about Bukit Peninsula.

ビザを延長し５月中旬までバリにステイのカイシュウ。
バリ滞在中もサーフィンとトレーニングに没頭し、体は更にシェイプアップされている。
次なる戦いは５月下旬にハワイ／ボウルズで行われるQS／１０００イベントだ。
では、カイシュウ、またハワイでの〜〜
Kaishu extended his VISA till mid May.
He was just surfing and training during this Bali trip so his body is getting more fit.
His next battle destination is in Bowls, Hawaii, 1000 Event/ QS.

ビンギンに到着すると、丁度ワイダブラザーズ／リオ＆リュウキも登場〜
いつのようにバイク二人乗りで、潮に合わせてパドルアウト。
潮が干ききると、今度は右のビンギンライトに移動し、ずっとサーフしまくっていた。
この兄弟が世界でドミネイトしてくることは間違いニャイ〜
When I got to Bingin, Ryuki & Rio showed up~~
Got here with their moped and started paddling out.
When tide got low, they moved to right side and kept surfing.
I’m sure that they’re gonna dominate up to the World one day~~

３月に行われた、ウーメンズパイププロで優勝した元CTサーファーのケアラケネリィー。
不思議とケアラとはハワイはもちろん、バリやタヒチでも良く出会う。
彼女もまた波の求道者であり、人生をサーフィンに捧げている。
Keala Kenelly, Women’s Pipe Pro’s Champion that was held this march.
I don’t know why but I meet her often in Hawaii, Bali and Tahiti.
I guess she’s also a explorer of the wave and gave her life for surfing.

Our last ended in Sanur & Bingin~~~

結局期待したパダンパダンまでのサイズには至らなかったが、
ビンギンのバグースオンバに巡り会う事が出来、言うことなしの最終日でした。
Padang Padang didn’t go that huge than I expected but
lucky thing that I was able to meet Bingin’s wonderful wave.

久々、一ヶ月弱のロングステイとなった今回のバリ取材。
JPSAクラマス戦、ロンボク＆ジャワボートトリップ、WQSクラマス戦、
そして滞在中で一番のスエルとなった今日のサヌール＆ビンギンセッションと、
毎日フル稼働しまくったバリデイズでした。
今回の旅をサポートしてくださった、バリ／サムドラビルのイトウさん、
ミッチャン、ジョディさん、ハッサン、アントン、ロイ、ダイマル君、
そしてダイスケ君、ありがとうございました。
またロンボクへ導いてくれたベテ、ジーランドへ一緒に行ったデデとブライアンとも
貴重な体験，時を分かち合え、ありがとうございました。
１９８２年に初めてバリに行き、３３年の歳月がたちました。
当時と比べたら、バリもすっかり変わり、新しいポイントが発掘され、
いまや第二のノースショアとの言われる様になり、
世界のサーフシーンに於いて欠かせないサーファーズパラダイスに進化しました。
毎回行く度に新しい発見、見えなかった、気づかなかった事が、見え、気づき、
自分に刺激を与えてくれるバリ。
体の、心の続く限り、このネットリとした赤道直下の波の園、
インドネシア通いは続けていきたいものですわ〜

My first trip to Bali was in 1982 and 33 years has past since then.
Compering from that time, Bali has changed dramatically, new points are discovered and
changed into a Surfer’s Paradise that can’t be away from the surfing scene.
Every time I visit Bali, this place shows me a new face.
I truly want to keep on visiting to this place until I’m alive~~
